Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of questions do you have?

Visual Basic Applications
Q: If "MSVBVM60.DLL" is missing from my system, where do I get it?
A: Visual Basic 6 (SP5) (1 MB) Runtime Module
Q: Do your programs cause problems with Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP or with other programs?

Most of our installers do not install/overwrite/delete any system file(s) and thus cannot affect your system's stability in any way.

Some of our programs do require some system files in order to run, but our installers use version control routines that check your files and will never overwrite one of your newer files with an older version of it.

Q: I am getting the following error, how do I solve it?:
Windows Script is missing
Error 429: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.Dictionary'

This is a general scripting error. An application might have removed or unregistered the Windows Script library. To solve this problem try this:

  • Click on Start, Run, enter the following: regsvr32 scrrun.dll
  • Press <ENTER>, you should get a message stating that the file has been successfully registered

If the file "scrrun.dll" is missing from your system folder (usually C:\Windows\System32\), you will need to download and install the appropriate Windows Script for your operating system.

Registration and Upgrades
Q: I purchased a registration code a few days ago and haven't received it yet, why?

There could be many reasons for this, here are a few:

  • Registration codes get sent within a few hours (normal case scenario) but could take as long as 48 hours to arrive (worst case scenario).
  • Your email account is bouncing mails because you ran out of space.
  • You misspelled or entered an invalid email address when you made your purchase.
  • Your registered PayPal email address is not your current address and it doesn't work anymore.
  • Your anti-spam software (or your company's, or your provider's) might be filtering our emails out.
  • Either your email server, our provider's or some server in between could have gone down or become infected by, for example, an internet worm, this could have caused our email to get lost.
  • If you paid through PayPal using an eCheck: such payments take about four days to clear.
  • You used PayPal's "Send Money" feature to submit your payment instead of using one of our payment links. This bypasses some of our automated systems and can cause delays because your purchase will need to be processed manually.
Q: I tried the instruction in the registration email, but it still says "Unregistered", why?

The most common reason for this problem is that you are trying to use a registration code that was issued for a different version of the program you are actually running. If you downloaded the installer from our site, you should have the latest version of it, if you did from another site, you might be using an outdated version. Also, make sure the name and version of the program you are using matches the one in your registration email.

Please visit the link included with your registration email for more detailed instructions. If everything fails, please contact us using our Contact Form.

Q: How long am I entitled to free upgrades?
A: You are entitled to two years of free upgrades. After that you are entitled to a 50% discount over the retail price for another year of free upgrades.
Q: How can I get an installer for an older version of one of your programs?
A: Please note that we generally do not distribute older versions of our programs.

Web Applications
Q: I am getting the following error when using an MS Access Database, how do I solve it?:
Microsoft JET Database Engine (0x80004005)
Operation must use an updateable query.

This is a very common error, it is caused by your IUSR account lacking write permissions for the database folder. The IUSR is the user account that your web server uses to identify itself (anonymous users) when working under your Windows operating system. To solve this problem select the folder containing the database, open the "Properties" dialog, select the "Security" tab and add the IUSR_YourComputerNameHere account and give it write or full rights.

If the problem persists, it could be because your web server is trying to create the "lock file" (.ldb) in a folder other than the folder containing the database. This is usually the "Windows\Temp" folder, for which it does not have write permissions. To solve this select the Windows TEMP folder and give the IUSR write or full rights using the instructions above.

Q: How many users will I be able to handle on my site?
A: This depends on the type of database that you choose to use. If you use an MS Access database (.mdb) you can expect to be able to handle around 20-40 simultaneous users, although this depends on many factors but it should give you an idea. If you use an MS SQL Server database, which is a very powerful database platform, you can expect to be able to handle hundreds or even thousands of simultaneous users. As a rule of thumb, if your web site's traffic is under 4000 hits per day, you can safely use an MS Access database, but if you have more traffic, you should seriously consider using an MS SQL Server database instead.
